Hillary Might Have no Other Choice for VP

Before the nomination process became a real horse race, I felt Hillary wouldn't select Obama as a running mate for Machiavellian reasons which are not politically correct enough for Hillary--or me--to discuss directly with others. As it turns out, the race will likely depend on the superdelegates. If Obama enters the convention with competetive numbers of delegates and Clinton wins, what do you think the Black community will think of the "Democratic Process" of the "Democratic" Party? I'll hazard a guess that the "stealing an election" perception that Democrats have about Bush's 2000 election will be far eclipsed by that of the Democrats' most reliable block of voters--and in this particular case, it will be a deserved perception. If for nothing else, Hillary might be forced to take Obama to help mollify black outrage at the coup.

If Hillary wins and does select Obama, there could be a new, Machiavellian reason for the Republicans to cringe if McCain wins by a close margin: there will likely be a significant discrepancy between the exit polls and the tabulated results--and the discrepancy will favor Hillary in the exit polling. Republicans who vote will proclaim to the pollsters that they voted for McCain. Democrats who are closet sexists, closet racists, or both, might vote for McCain and might be embarrassed to tell the truth to the pollsters. Charges of massive vote fraud will once again cloud the Presidency.

I think it would be better for all--the Republicans, the Democrats, and the Nation--if Obama got the nomination, selected anybody other than Hillary for VP, and conducted a clean race with McCain on the issues.

Is This It -- Senators???

No matter the party, there's nearly a one-hundred percent chance our next President will be a US Senator. This is definitely a disappointment for me. I don't know how others feel, but Senators are just about the most worthless excuses of political operatives in existence. Senators have no inherent claim to executive skills or aptitude of any sort. The recent tiff between Obama and Clinton about "experience" and "words" is really laughable. Considering the fact that Hillary's "experience" comes from observation and both of their "words" tend to come from writers, I could make the case, using the same criteria, that Martin Sheen has more experience playing a President on TV than the two of them put together.

I'd rather see a governor or mayor as a candidate to choose from. The two greatest Presidents of the previous century, Reagan and Roosevelt, were both successful governors of major states. While there's the possibility that a Senator or Representative can be an effective President, there's something that can be said about the chances a chief executive officer of a company, city, or state has--as a matter of statistics. A Senator can claim only the skills of bloviation and staff selection as advantages over Joe Six-Pack when it comes to the Presidency.
